Last week we had a chance to try ourselves on Snwoflake’s first exam that is “Snowflake SnowPro Core Exam”. In this article I will try to explain what to expect from the exam, how I prepared myself and passed.

Exam Expectations

I guess if you are reading this article, it means that you have spent 2 wonderful months in academy, preparing for this exam. I can undoubtedly say that the training I received from Nimbus Intelligence made me feel very well-prepared. Not only for the key elements on Snowflake but also beyond.

Without doubt, it is impossible to go through everything that will prepare you as a Data Analytics Engineer. We did this exam after 2 months and not after 4 months. This period could be different depending on your Nimbus Accademy year. But remind yourselves that there is absoulately no stress in any second of this process. Don’t forget that you have multiple chances to pass the exam and you can have all the time you want to get prepared.

First off, I have to thank Mike Drogg who spent hours training us for this exam and also my teammates both in Milan and Amsterdam. Everyone was helping eachother throughout this journey which had a big positive impact on me. I knew that there was always a team that supported me and never getting tired of helping me out whenever I felt lost.

The exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions that don’t have any negative points if you give a wrong answer. You can flag the questions that are not clear for you and return to have a look again. Your final score will be based on 1000 and the minimum score to pass was 750 for my exam, it might be different for yours but you can check it from the website.

Exam Preparation

We did several Udemy exams that were similar to the actual exam that helped . I should say that the exam was slightly more detailed. I think that the Snowflake documentation is the best helper for you at this point. The exam I took included a lot of questions on INFORMATION_SCHEMA views, tables etc. which you can find in documentation. The exam is very focused on details such as the actual default numbers in some Snowflake objects, how you can change which part of object etc. It might be difficult to remember all this options if you don’t try it yourself on Snowflake. We did numerous examples in these months and after those there is no doubt that you will remember details automatically. Some of the questions are really direct, which means you can answer them really fast if you know the answer. There are also questions that will require some logical thinking and commenting. In the end I think we are not expected to know every single detail but have a logical point of view.

Conclusion

With the Snowflake SnowPro Core Exam we did our first steps in Snowflak world. It was exciting and fun journey. In this article I have tried to share my feelings on how I passed the exam and please feel free to contact me for any questions.
